UV waves, ten times higher than normal levels

Ultraviolet waves are now approximately ten times higher than the levels normally supported by human skin. Even if all satellite maps show that Romania is under a ‘red cloud’, authorities have not taken any measures, according to the website www.punctul.ro, quoted by Antena 3. In Hungary, meanwhile, gendarmes have banned teenagers under 18 to practice any sports in the open in the moments of maximum exposure, between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to the same source.

Dermatologist Monica Capalna was quoted by the website as saying that the entire Europe is on alert over UV levels. “Human skin can no longer stand radiations,” Capalna said, adding that the UV levels of 9.4 on a scale of one to ten are extremely dangerous for our skin. She added that nobody speaks of the risk in Romania because here, UV levels are not measures. “There should be warning messages in the media, in parks and so on, so that people know about this and avoid exposing themselves to radiation,” Capalna added.
