CFR employees threaten to block trains because of poor working conditions

After the protests in Targu Jiu the railway workers from several CFR regional branches threaten to stop working and to block railway traffic. The workers are displeased with the fact that they are yet to receive their wages and with the working conditions, Antena 3 TV informs. In their turn, the passengers complained that they were not informed of the workers’ intention and of being forced to wait several hours in the train.

On Tuesday afternoon three trains traveling through Gorj County were stopped in the Targu Jiu train station. The CFR workers claim that they had a strong reason to do so: insufficient personnel and a high volume of work. On top of that, they have not been paid for last month. Traffic was resumed on Tuesday only after the labor union members were promised to be given the chance to air their grievances during a meeting with the representatives of CFR Craiova. But on Wednesday morning train traffic was affected again. If the problems won’t be solved the CFR workers claim that they will resume protests.

A spontaneous protest took place in Gara Brasov too. The employees of CFR Brasov Infrastructure refused to work. Four trains were blocked in the Sibiu train station. The employees fear they will be sent in technical unemployment. People are displeased with the Ministry’s decision to send 40 per cent of the employees into technical unemployment. The protest will be organized in several CFR branches in the country, in places such as Galati, Iasi, Bucuresti, Timisoara, Contanta, Craiova, Ciceu, Miercurea Ciuc, Gheorghieni and other important cities.
