Prunea suspended from FRF

Patritiu Abrudan, the Vice President of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF), has stated on Friday that the members of the FRF’s Emergency Committee have applied the Executive Committee’s decision to suspend Florin Prunea, the FRF’s director of International Relations.

During its June 22 meeting, the FRF’s Executive Committee decided to suspend Florin Prunea’s contract with the FRF if he were to be sent to trial.

Contacted by phone, Florin Prunea stated that he was not informed that the Emergency Committee applied the June 22 decision. ‘I was not informed that I was suspended. I don’t know if this Emergency Committee meeting took place,’ Prunea stated.

Florin Prunea, the FRF’s director of International Relations, Gheorghe Constantin, former president of the Central Commission for Referees, Liviu Facaleata, general director of SC Pic, Cornel Penescu, majority shareholder within FC Arges Pitesti and Cristian Libertatu, former director of OJPC Arges, were sent to court by the DNA. Prunea, director of International Relations within the Romanian Football Federation, was sued for traffic of influence.

Ionut Lupescu to take over Florin Prunea’s prerogatives

FRF President Mircea Sandu stated on Friday that general director Ionut Popescu will take over Florin Prunea’s prerogatives after the latter was suspended by the Federation’s Emergency Committee. ‘Prunea will be suspended until the court issues a ruling. During this time we will hire nobody, with the general director (Ionut Lupescu – editor’s note) set to take over Prunea’s prerogatives’ Sandu stated for Sport.ro.
