Energy production down

According to the energy balance prognosis compiled by the National Prognosis Commission (CNP) for the 2009-2013 period, the production of hydro power and wind power will register a drop of 4.5 per cent this year compared to the level registered in 2008 and will total 1.41 million tons of equivalent oil (toe). Starting next year the production of hydro power and wind power will start to rise slightly, being set to reach 1.427 million toe in 2010 and 1.445 million toe in 2011. The growth will continue, set to reach 1.467 million toe in 2012 and 1.492 million toe in 2013. On the other hand, the production of nuclear energy will register a slight growth of 0.2 per cent to 2.75 million toe this year, a level that will remain constant until 2013. Moreover, according to the CNP’s main economic and social indicators, the GDP per capita will reach EUR 12,945 in 2009 in the Bucharest – Ilfov region, 6.8 per cent below the level registered in 2008.


Next year the GDP per capita will resume its growth, set to reach EUR 14,043. The growth will be maintained in 2011 (EUR 15,257) and in 2012 (EUR 16,976). In 2009 the GDP will register a real growth of -3.1 per cent in Bucharest – Ilfov but the economy will show signs of a recovery in 2010 when it will grow by 0.3 per cent. The growth rhythm will jump to 2.6 per cent in 2011 and 3.8 per cent in 2012.
