According to a poll conducted by CCSB (the Company of Sociological Research and Branding) on July 10-12 and released yesterday by Antena 3, if presidential elections were held next Sunday, Traian Basescu would score 38 pc as a candidate of PD-L. In this case, the second place would be disputed by Crin Antonescu (PNL) and Mircea Geoana (PSD), while PRM leader Corneliu Vadim Tudor would take 12 pc and Prince Radu 7 pc. If the acting head of state ran as independent, he would obtain even less votes, i.e. 35 pc. In this situation, second would come Crin Antonescu, with 18 pc, followed by Geoana with 17 pc. However, in spite of the decline in polls, Basescu would still win the second round, against Antonescu, Geoana or Sorin Oprescu (the Bucharest mayor who is rumored to still consider whether he would run for Cotroceni). In the second round, Basescu would gather 54 pc of ballots if confronted by Antonescu, 55 pc against Geoana (45 pc) and 57 pc against Oprescu (43 pc).
