Starting on Friday, Radio Romania Muzical radio station will air ten concerts form the BBC Proms festival, the most important classical music festival in Britain, the representatives of the public radio station informed. The inaugural concert, scheduled on July 17 and aired live by Radio Romania Muzical at 9.30 PM, will include a program of works signed by Stravinski, Chabrier, Tchaikovsky, Poulenc, Elgar, Brahms and Bruckner. The show will be given by the BBC’s chorus and symphonic orchestra directed by Jiri Belohlavek. Soprano Ailish Tynan, mezzo-soprano Alice Coote and pianists Stephen Hough, Katia and Marielle Labeque will be the soloists. Apart from the inaugural concert, Radio Romania Muzical will also air live nine other BBC Proms concerts, including the closing concert scheduled on September 12. Overall, the BBC Proms schedule includes 76 concerts. Apart from the ten concerts aired live, Radio Romania Muzical will also air recordings of other concerts given during the festival. Hosted by the famous Royal Albert Hall in London, the concerts are timed to coincide with the anniversaries of several events, including 250 years since the death of Georg Friedrich Handel, 200 years since the death of Joseph Haydn, 200 years since the birth of Felix Mendelssohn, 350 years since the birth of Henry Purcell and 100 years since the debut of the collaboration between Igor Stravinski and Serghei Diaghilev, the master of Russian ballet.
