League I, world’s 31st best football championship

The League I ranks 31st (225.5 points) in the table of the world’s best football championships, a table compiled by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) and publicized on Tuesday, the Federation’s official website informs.

The League I is outclassed by the football championships of Malaysia, Japan, Uzbekistan, Scotland, Egypt, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Venezuela, Peru, Nigeria etc. The table is topped by the following countries: 1. England – 616 points; 2. Brazil – 602 points; 3. Argentina – 515 points; 4. Germany – 493 points; 5. Spain – 488 points; 6. Italy – 408 points; 7. France – 396 points; 8. Chile – 328 points; 9. Ukraine – 324 points; 10. Paraguay – 312 points.

Last year League I ranked 21st in the same table, registering 472 points and occupying the same rank as it did in 2007. In 2005 League I entered the table’s top 25 teams for the first time in five years, ranking 19th. In 2006 the Romanian championship registered its best ranking (10th). In 1999 it ranked 23rd, in 1997 it ranked 21st, in 1996 it ranked 22nd, in 1995 it ranked 21st, in 1993 it ranked 22nd, in 1992 it ranked 25th and in 1991 it ranked 25th.
