Romania’s national water polo team has defeated Macedonia on Monday, score 6-4 (1-1, 2-2, 3-0, 0-1). It was the first Group D game of the water polo tournament that is part of the Swimming World Cup in Rome. Romania had a difficult time winning the game because of the numerous wasted opportunities.
The team coached by Istvan Kovacs went ahead in the third quarter. Romania’s goals were scored by Cosmin Radu (4th and 17th minutes), Alexandru Ghiban (9th minute), Kalman Kadar (11th minute), Andrei Iosep (21st minute) and Nicolae Diaconu (23rd minute). Macedonia’s goals were scored by Marko Micic (7th minute), Ivan Vuksanovic (9th minute) and Marko Basic (16th and 29th minute).
Romania will next play against Italy (July 22, 10 PM). The US is also part of Group D.
