Fuel distributor MOL Romania is expecting a slight recovery of the fuel consumption by the end of this year after it dropped by more than 10 per cent on the corporate customers sector in the first half of the year, Mediafax informs. ‘The economic crisis is the cause of this drop. The entire market is affected. We expect equilibrium in 2009. Because the tourism season has started the market could recover in the second half of the year’ Zsolt Szalay stated. He added that the fuel consumption growth estimated for the end of the year will be fueled by the season, by tourism and by the fact that the fuel prices are lower than they were last year.
On the other hand, MOL Romania and the National Union of Romanian Road Transporters (UNTRR) have announced yesterday the approaching launch of the service that allows the downloading of data from the drivers’ cards and digital tachographs, MOL being the first oil company in Romania that offers this facility to the transporters. The transporters will be able to use the tachograph stations located in MOL’s gas stations in order to download the data stored in the drivers’ cards and in the vehicles’ digital tachographs. The tachograph is a device that registers a series of vehicle parameters, allowing the transporters to check whether their drivers respect their driving, rest and work schedule.
