Steaua and FC Vaslui – winners in third preliminary round of Europa League

Steaua Bucharest defeated on Thursday evening the Scottish team Motherwell by 3–0 (2–0) in a home game, for the first leg of the third preliminary round of the Europa League football competition. Steaua won due to Stephen Craigan’s own goal in the 30th minute, and the goals scored by Banel Nicolita (45 + 1) and Bogdan Stancu (60), while Dorin Goian missed a penalty kick in the 33rd minute (defeated by Ruddy). Steaua achieved an obvious victory that is most likely to grant qualification in the next round, after an exquisite game. The return leg will take place on August 4, in Scotland.

FC Vaslui defeated by 2–0 (1–0) the Cypriot team Omonia Nicosia on Thursday evening in a home game, in the first leg of the third preliminary round of Europe League. The players of Vaslui won due to the goals scored by the Zimbabwean player Mike Temwanjera in the 22nd and the 55th minute, after a game they controlled most of the time. The return leg was scheduled in Cyprus, on August 4.
