CAS President on Mutu case: ‘Almost all appeals were overruled’

The President of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), Mino Auletta declared at the Italian radio station Radio Blu that Adrian Mutu’s lawyers may file an appeal to a Supreme Court regarding the verdict in the conflict against Chelsea London; nonetheless, he mentioned that almost all cases were overruled so far, violaplanet.it announces.

“Adrian Mutu’s lawyers have the opportunity to file an appeal at a higher authority. CAS is a Swiss private law institution, subordinated to the Swiss Federal Court. Nonetheless, all appeals filed so far in 50 cases were overruled, except for a small formal issue. I am not saying that things will be always this way, yet this is the history we must consider. I know there are negotiations between Chelsea and Mutu, and if they want to reach an agreement, CAS will not intervene. Mutu attempted to remind in his appeal that, at that date, he was not an EU-based player, and maintained the defence line he had before,” Auletta declared.

Mutu may file an appeal to attack the CAS verdict until September 15.
