“The Other Irina” by Andrei Gruzsniczki won Anonimul Grand Trophy

The long film “The Other Irina,” directed by Andrei Gruzsnickni, won the Anonimul Grand Trophy, based on the votes cast by the audience at the “Anonimul” International Independent Film Festival (August 10 – 16) that took place in Saint George, in the Danube Delta. This year, for the first time, all awards were based exclusively on viewers’ votes. According to the organizers quoted by Mediafax, there were approximately 370 voters on Saturday. The film tells the story of Aurel (Andi Vasluianu) and of Irina Jianu (Simona Popescu) a couple moving to Bucharest and hoping to start a new, better life.

The director of the film declared in a recorded message that the viewers of “Anonimul” were the best audience that ever watched this film. “The Other Irina” will be officially premiered in Romanian cinema theatres on November 13 and also won the Romanian Days’ Prize at this year’s edition of the Transylvania International Film Festival.
