PSD, PNL say that Udrea’s presence before the commission not optional

The PSD and PNL leaders criticized also the refusal of Elena Udrea to come to the hearings of the commission, and the involvement of PDL and of the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Roberta Anastase, in this problem.

The president of the investigation commission in Udrea case, the PNL Deputy Ludovic Orban, declared that tourism minister can formulate as many criminal complaints as she likes, and stressed that the presence at the hearings of the parliamentary commission is not optional. According to Orban, the emergence of the audio recording of the discussions from the commission and all the declarations of PDL representatives are “a childish pretext in order to justify the non-participation to the hearings of the commission.” “Insofar as me and my colleagues are concerned, we are obliged to shed light on the way in which the public money was spent at the Tourism Ministry,” Orban said.

The coordinator of the presidential electoral campaign of PSD, Viorel Hrebenciuc, also declared that he wonders that President Traian Basescu is so scared of Udrea commission, commenting the announcement made by Elena Udrea, according to which she would file criminal complaints against some members of the commission. Hrebenciuc stated that he does not understand “all the emotion and passion” in the problem of the parliamentary commission which investigates the Tourism Ministry. Hrebenciuc stressed that the announcement made by Udrea, that she would not go to the hearings of the commission, is an abuse of office, namely a criminal offence.

The PSD strategist also said that he checked how the transcripts of the discussions between the members of Udrea Commission arrived in the media and concluded that they were not disseminated by the technical service of the Chamber of Deputies, stressing that he can surmise what service dealt with this.

The Social-Democrats also accused Roberta Anastase of going beyond her attributions when she requested the resignation from Parliament of the four members of Udrea commission whose discussions appeared in an audio recording.
