AH1N1 cases reached 307

The number of confirmed cases of infection with the AH1N1 flu virus in Romania is 307, the Health Ministry informs, according to Mediafax. The Centre for the Prevention and Control of Transmissible Diseases has reported 26 new cases in the August 24 – 30 week. Out of the 26 new cases confirmed by the National Cantacuzino Institute, nine had been identified in Bucharest, six in Mures County, three in Cluj County, two in Ilfov County, two in Timis County and one case in each the following counties: Brasov, Galati, Mehendinti and Valcea. The Health Ministry reports four confirmed cases among Romanian tourists returned from Bulgaria, two confirmed cases of people returned from Spain, two other confirmed cases arriving from Spain, two confirmed cases arriving from the UK, 15 individual cases returned from various countries: Spain (9), Greece (4), Great Britain (1), The Czech Republic (1); a secondary case involving the contact of a patient who had been confirmed the previous week.

Currently, the 28 patients are in a good state, as they have developed a mild form of the illness. They are still in hospital in special infectious disease wards or isolated at home, as the case may be. They are all receiving antiviral treatment.
