Theatre Festival for young actors

The Young Actors Gala – HOP, a traditional annual event by UNITER, will start today at the Culture House of Mangalia.

For ten years, Mangalia greeted consecrated artists and young actors alike, who became famous theatre and film personalities in the meantime.

Throughout this decade, the Culture House of Mangalia has hosted solo and group performances attending the competition, stage movement workshops coordinated by choreographer Florin Fieroiu, invited performances and, obviously, the awards ceremony, when the winners are announced.

This year, 54 competitors were admitted to the individual section of the competition, and 15 performances will attend the group competition (resulting in over 100 attendants). Similarly to previous editions, the theme of the competition is the concept of “tolerance.”

The solo section also includes a compulsory test. Competitors had to select one of Marin Sorescu’s poems “Cat tine clipa” and “Tratat despre tril” and present it in a personal vision.

The awards of the gala are the “Stefan Iordache” Award for Best Actor and the Award for Best Actress at the individual section, the Award for the Best Performance at the group section, the “Sica Alexandrescu” Award – Special Award of the Jury and the “Maria Filotti” Award offered by Prince Serban Cantacuzino.

This year’s invited show is “Just Push Play… Again” performed by the actors Dragos Muscalu, Robert Pavicsits, Georgiana Elena Popan, Matei Rotaru and Bogdan Radulescu, featuring Marian Hancu on keyboards, a sequel to “Just Push Play,” the performance that won the Viewers’ Choice Award at previous year’s edition of the Gala.
