Mugur Isarescu to receive new term of office at BNR

Mugur Isarescu is nominated as BNR governor for another five years term in office, BNR first vice governor Florin Georgescu will be supported by PSD, while PDL will back Cristian Popa and will propose a candidate in the place of Eugen Dijmarescu, political sources told HotNews. Thus, Mugur Isarescu is set to begin the new mandate of five years on October 11, 2009, in the conditions in which he does not have a counter-candidate at the head of the National Bank of Romania (BNR). This would be his fourth term of office at the head of the central bank. “ Parliament alone may oppose him when it casts its final vote, but I don’t believe,” said the quoted sources.
