Traian Basescu at Roma Festival: Christen your children and send them to school

President Traian Basescu has asked the Roma ethnics yesterday to christen their children and to send them to school. Attending the Roma Festival in Costesti, the Head of State pointed out that he was not campaigning, Hotnews informs. The Head of State was welcomed by King Cioaba, by his wife, who gave Mrs. Basescu a bunch of yellow orchids, and by Cioaba’s sister Luminita, who greeted the President with the traditional bread and salt tray.

The Head of State danced on traditional Roma music after dancers from the Republic of Moldova took him on stage. The Head of State also received a plaquette as a sign of gratitude for mentioning the Roma in the law on the Holocaust, a silver medal bearing the symbols of the Cioaba Royal House, poetry books and a book on the Holocaust written by Luminita Cioaba.

‘The Roma are on your side, Mr. President, and we will welcome you here next year too, as President of Romania,’ Florin Cioaba stated.
