Weekend marred by accidents

Car crashes and other types of accidents took place in Romania during the weekend. A lorry carrying gravel overturned on Sunday on National Road 1 between Sibiu and Brasov. The lorry’s driver and a passenger were injured and the traffic was slowed down while the rescue crews intervened, Mediafax informs. Two other persons were injured on Sunday in a car crash that involved a minibus. The minibus overturned on Sunday morning on National Road 2 European Road 85 Buzau – Ramnicu Sarat in Oreavu locality, Buzau County. Also on Sunday four persons were injured after two cars frontally collided on National Road 72 Ploiesti – Targoviste, near the Ion Luca Caragiale locality, Dambovita County. The traffic was blocked for approximately one hour. Two other persons were hospitalized with serious injuries after a car crash on County Road 110B in Salaj. A man and a woman were hospitalized in a serious condition after the car they were traveling in was his by another vehicle on County Road 110B in Lompirt locality, Salaj County.


The driver of a lorry carrying timber and traveling from Suceava towards Bistrita was seriously injured on Sunday morning after his vehicle overturned in a curve on National Road 17, in the Tihuta Mountain Pass.

A 13-year-old teenager from Craiova got a criminal file for driving a vehicle without a driver’s license. He was apprehended shortly after causing a car crash. Six more under-age youngsters were traveling in his car.


Accidents were not limited to this however. A 33-year-old man was shot and killed on Sunday while he was out hunting in Daesti commune, Valcea County, Mediafax informs.
