A bronze bust of the poet Mihai Eminescu was carried on Tuesday to the United States of America, Agerpres informs. The statue of the poet will be located in a New York park, declared Mihai Costin, president of “Mihai Eminescu” Medal and Badge Collectors’ Group. “This is the first bust of Eminescu which crosses the ocean and it can be so far the first Romanian monument in the USA. It is a very daring project, but also important for the Romanians who live there, far from their native country,” Mihai Costin said. He said that the bust was made of plaster in 1969, and then it was cast in bronze several years later. “Mihai Eminescu” Medal and Badge Collectors’ Group, member of the Romanian Coins Society, has permanently collaborated with “Dorul” Romanian Christian Society from New York to start this ambitious project. The president of “Dorul” Romanian Christian Society, Cristian Florin Pascu, commissioned the casting in bronze of the bust and its location in a park from New York. The location of the bust is past of a range of activities dedicated to the commemoration of 120 years since the death of the national poet Mihai Eminescu. An exhibition of medals, badges, old books, painting and sculptures dedicated to the national poet was opened on June 3 at Parliament Palace.
