New campaign strategy: Going to weddings

Both President Traian Basescu and his closest rival in the polls, PSD leader Mircea Geoana attended a wedding this weekend, in what was described as parts of the media as being a new kind of electoral strategy, although unofficial. For the second time in two weeks, the president attended a wedding in a restaurant in Herastrau Park, on Saturday, according to Antena 3. The head of state and his wife reached the restaurant where the wedding was held at about 10 p.m. and left an hour later. On the previous Saturday, the president and his wife were having dinner in the same restaurant when a wedding began. After eating, the presidential couple danced with the wedding guests, according to press reports.Geoana too attended a wedding this weekend, but not accidentally, as he was one of the guests of honor and best man for the son of the Social Democrat mayor in Racsa, Satu Mare. Geoana and his wife were welcomed with music and applause, although they arrived 30 minutes later, putting off the wedding ceremony. Several PSD members were also present for the event, according to Mediafax.
