Redundancies at Avioane Craiova and at InBev

The shareholders of Avioane Craiova (AVIO), a company owned by Ministry of Economy, approved last Friday the dismissal, in a first stage, of 300 employees this year, provided that several terms are met, according to a company press release sent to Bucharest Stock Exchange, Mediafax informs. The terms required for the implementation of the layoff plan refer to securing production capacities for defense, guarantee and post guarantee service for all the products delivered to Ministry of National defense, notification of the Central State Office for Special Issues on the intention to restructure and reorganize in case that capacities included in the portfolio of defense production are targeted. The number of those to be laid off within a second stage, expected for next year, is to be decided after an analysis within the company administration board, taking into account all the terms required in the first stage.

InBev Romania also suspends, during October 1, 2009 – March 31, 2010, the activity of Blaj based brewery, because of a dropping demand, and 110 employees of the production unit are laid off on temporarily bases, as the company recently informed, Mediafax says. “The measure was taken following the declining demand, induced both by the economic context and by the seasonal nature. During this time period, we shall continue our beer production in our brewery from Ploiesti”, according to a company press release.
