At 12, Catinca Untaru, president of KINOdiseea festival

The little actress Catinca Untaru, noticed at Hollywood in “The Fall,” has now the second serious job: president of the jury of the first festival of films for children in Romania, Evenimentul Zilei informs. Four-five years ago, Catinca Untaru was passing through India, South Africa, France and Great Britain, the youngest and – in the opinion of the American critics – the most talented member of a film team. The little actress had obtained a role that tens or maybe hundreds of children had tried to take in “The Fall” directed by Tarsem Singh. “A very beautiful film, probably because I have also played in it,” Catinca says. Starting on Tuesday, Catinca has taken seriously her temporary job of president of the first festival of film for children in Romania, KINOdiseea, alongside Marc Solomon, Luca Istodor, Marian Bratu and Timotei Duna. Catinca says that she understands that her assignment is a method to help the others, not to be a leader: “I do not want to lead the others, I only want to help to find a film that we would all like. It is for the first time that I am in a jury and especially a president, so it is strange enough. I’ll see.”

Asked if she saw the films from the Festival, Catinca answered quite sincerely: “Yes, a few. I saw <>, <>. What else I’ve seen? I am sure that I have seen also something else, but I don’t remember.” As for the appreciation of the films, Catinca says that she doesn’t know which one is worth a 10, but she believes that most of them are good.
