Historic city centre works – a stalled project

During a working visit with to the streets of the historic city centre of the capital, accompanied by Sibiu specialists, yesterday, Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu said things were moving with difficulty and admitted to not being happy with the progress made with renovating the area. According to Agerpres, he said the finalization of the project stalls for a number of reasons, with the most important ones being the legal framework and institutional bureaucracy. Oprescu said that all those years since the works had begun, the municipality had unsuccessfully tried to improve the historic city centre because it had been working ‘with the parking brake on.’
