Political consensus over Isarescu’s reconfirmation at BNR

The parties have finalized the negotiations regarding the leadership and the membership of the Board of Administration of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) agreeing over the fact that Mugur Isarescu will be reconfirmed as governor, while Florin Georgescu will be proposed again to be nominated by PSD for the position of first vice governor. According to the leader of PDL Deputies, Mircea Toader, quoted by Mediafax, the protocol for the membership of BNR Board was concluded and signed yesterday. Thus, PSD and PDL will propose three members each, while PNL and UDMR a member each, fact which generated the discontent of the Liberals who did not sign the protocol. PSD will designate the first vice governor, while PDL will designate the two vice governors. PDL nominees could be Lucian Croitoru, Cristian Popa and probably Virgiliu Stoenescu, while PSD, besides Florin Georgescu, will nominate Marin Dinu and Nicolae Danila. UDMR will maintain Agnes Nagy, while Liberals’ choice is Daniel Daianu.
