Within the National Peasant Christian and Democrat Party (PNTCD), the dispute as to the leadership of the party is still continuing.
PNTCD leader, Radu Sarbu, said on Saturday that he started a legal action against PNTCD Congress Marian Milut wing, on grounds of this event not having a statutory character. He accused Milut that he did not observe PNTCD decision, who has withdrawn support as leader of this party.
“It is a singular situation within the world of parties in Romania, it has never been seen that a president does not comply with the party decision, as Mr. Marian Milut did, to whom the party withdrew support and replaced him from the office of leader,” Sarbu said. He added that he would dispute Milut group when he tries to submit documents to enlist in the party registry.
PNTCD, the wing led by Radu Sarbu, organized on Saturday, at Romexpo, an extraordinary Congress, following to which Sarbu was re-elected leader of the party. He informed, in order to avoid disputes, that the works of PNTCD Congress had notaries as witnesses. Sarbu has, among his supporters, the former PNTCD leader Ion Diaconescu and the former PM Victor Ciorbea. Some representatives of PNTCD from Sarbu team expressed their discontent as to the party group, led by Marian Milut, and also against the fact that Liberal Crin Antonescu attended, on September 12, the Congress organized by Milut wing.
Other representatives of PNTCD considered that Antonescu should be the candidate whom they should support in the campaign for presidential elections.
On the other side, Milut wing reconfirmed him as leader of the party, on September 12. At the same time, it appears that Milut wing intends to have an alliance with PDL, stating already that they would vote Traian Basescu in the presidential elections.
