The volume “The history of China and of the Chinese civilization” launched in Bucharest

The volume “The history of China and of the Chinese civilization” written by Ion Buzatu and prefaced by the vice president of the Chamber of Deputies, the Social-Democrat Adrian Nastase, was launched on Saturday, in a ceremony organized by “Titulescu” European Foundation and Uranus Publishing House. “This is the first book of this type dedicated to China, to the Romanian-Chinese relations, written by a Romanian author and printed in Bucharest; this book refers to history and to the present period, to the ancient times and to modernity, to tradition and present time, to perseverance and innovation, to daringness, it is a book about the constructive force and the peaceful spirit of the Chinese people, it is a book about the modesty and the well tempered ego of the Chinese people, about over 4,000 years of history, but focused with good reason on the last 60 years and, out of them, not accidentally, on the last two decades, because it is a period of economic explosion,” Prof. George Potra, director of Titulescu Foundation, said.

Present at the launching of the volume, the initiator of the project and the author of the preface of the book, Adrian Nastase pointed out that the work is “a compendium intended for the Romanians, chiefly those who want to learn rapidly something about a history of almost 5,000 years, about the 300 emperors of China, about the almost 40 dynasties, something about the Chinese art, in order to understand the charm of the blue china, the quality of bronze or what means the legend of the terracotta soldiers.”

Present at the launching of the volume was also Liu Zengwen, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bucharest, who spoke in Romanian to the participants. “Looking through this book, what impresses me is the similarity of the histories of the two peoples, which were obliged to fight for independence, freedom and a better life, being confronted with various obstacles, and finally managing to rise independent and united,” the Chinese diplomat said, mentioning that in 2009 there are 60 years since the proclamation of the People’s Republic of China and at the same time 60 years since the beginning of the between Romania and China.”
