The painting “Flower vase” by Nicolae Tonitza was sold for RON 165,000, at the auction held on Sunday by Goldart house, the starting price of the painting being RON 110,000, Luminita Gildus, director of the auction house told Mediafax. A drawing also by Tonitza – “Children from Marginime” was also auctioned off on Sunday. The price of the drawing registered a significant rise, starting from RON 2,000 and going as high as RON 10,000. Other paintings adjudicated on Sunday were: “Nude at the seashore” by Sabin Balasa – RON 9,500; “In the garden” by Misu Teisanu – RON 5,250, and from the contemporary art “On the armchair” by Alma Redlinger – RON 3,600, “Dubrovnic” by Eugen Ispir – RON 5,000.
In the decorative art category, a photograph of King Ferdinand in coronation costume, with the holograph note “Souvenir du 15. oct. 1922,” in a silver frame with the insignia of the royal crown and the inscription “Ferdinand” on it, was sold for RON 8,000.The next auction of Goldart house will take place on October 11.
