Opinion poll: Basescu is the main person to blame for present political crisis

According to an Image Survey Institute opinion poll commissioned by the citynews.ro online newspaper, Romanians hold President Traian Basescu as the main person responsible for the ongoing political crisis and a potential fall of Government. Respondents answered the question “Who is the chief person to blame for the present political crisis generated by Dan Nica’s dismissal?” as follows: 40 per cent pointed to Basescu for the blame, to Emil Boc 13 per cent, to Mircea Geoana 12 per cent, Nica 5 per cent, and 15 per cent put the blame on ‘somebody else’. A further 15 per cent answered “I don’t know”.

Also, the bulk of the interviewees called Nica’s statement untrue alleging Basescu would be keen to rig the coming presidential election.
