Serbs will play to the death, he warned.
Razvan Lucescu, the head coach of the Romanian national football team, has stated on Monday in a press conference that Serbia will ‘play to the death’ in its game against Romania, a game counting for the preliminaries of the World Cup final tournament in South Africa.
‘Serbia will play to the death because their qualification depends on this game. If they win against us then they will qualify before the final group game and if they don’t then they’ll have a lot of work to do against Lithuania in a game set to be played on a very difficult pitch. This is an extremely important game. If we win then I’ll be very content but I will be just as content even if we register a hard-won draw,’ Razvan Lucescu stated.
Lucescu wants Romania to continue the undefeated streak it has registered since he became its head coach.

Antici: Razvan Lucescu’s “hand” is already visible at the national team
The Serbian coach Radomir Antici declared in an interview given to the daily Vecernje Novosti that the contribution of the coach Razvan Lucescu can already be seen at the national team of Romania, and stressed that the game from Saturday, in the WC 2010 preliminaries, will be historical. “Romania is an important opponent, with a young and ambitious coach. His hand is already visible. I saw the Romanians with France, and they will not allow us easily to gain the points. We know what we have to do and we are prepared for it. Since the debut of the qualifiers I said that we shall qualify on our own field. We play with Romania and we don’t want to defer the outcome. It is a historical match, the decisive step towards the WC, so we shall approach it with great determination. Romania has made a great progress since the arrival of coach Razvan Lucescu. The Romanians can be dangerous, especially on the counter-attack, and therefore they obtained better results on the opponents’ fields, headed by captain Chivu, who fascinated in Paris, in the game with France,” Antici said. “After some weaker results, Romania has returned on the good path. For them, except for prestige, this game has ceased to have a stake. Sometimes it is not easy to play under the pressure of the fact that you must win at any cost. But I believe in a success with Romania, it is important to keep the game in our hands,” Radomir Antici added.
Without chances for qualification, the national team of Romania meets on Saturday, at 21.30 h., the Serbian national team, in a game scheduled on Crvena Zvezda stadium from Belgrade, in the preliminaries of FIFA World Cup 2010, Europe zone, group 7.
