Romanian sailor rescued from shipwreck in Greece

A Romanian sailor was rescued after his ship sank in the Aegean Sea. The Greek ship transporting cement collided with a Maltese ship in the vicinity of the Amorgos Island, the ‘Ekathimerini’ publication informs quoting the Greek Commercial Navy Ministry. The Greek ship sank immediately after the collision. 70-year-old cook Nikos Drosos, one of the nine crewmembers, lost his life. His body was found by a ferryboat.

A third cargo ship rescued the other 8 crewmembers – six Greek nationals, one Romanian and one Irish national. The ship’s captain was injured in the collision and was taken to hospital.
