National Theater Festival to host 90 events in nine days

This year, the National Theater Festival (FNT), October 31 – November 8, in Bucharest, has scheduled as many as 90 events during nine days.

The audience will have the opportunity to see 21 performances from the whole country, the best from the past season, five shows signed by young directors at their debut, a guest performance from abroad “La cantatrice chauve” by Eugene Ionesco, set up by the French company Les Intempestifs, a first directed by Andriy Zholdak “Princess Turandot,” book launchings, debates, conferences. The tickets for the performances offered during FNT 2009 can be already found at Bucharest National Theater, Bucharest National Opera, Teatrul Mic, can be acquired from most of the theaters which host the events, and are available also online. The prices of the tickets vary this year from RON 21.2 to RON 63.6, but for most of the events there are also tickets at discounted prices, with an average cost of RON 17.85. The novelties of the 2009 edition of the National Theater Festival are the special sections: Ionesco Event (a series of shows and events dedicated to the great playwright), Opera Revival (opera performances signed by theater directors) and FNT Nocturnes (11 films about personalities from the theatrical world), and radio performances with plays by Eugene Ionesco broadcast by Radio Romania Cultural over the whole duration of the festival.

The play “La cantatrice chauve” by Eugene Ionesco, a production of the French company “Les Intempestifs,” directed by Jean Luc Lagarce, opens the edition 2009 of the festival, marking 100 years since the birth of the famous playwright of Romanian origin.
