Today’s game can be decisive for the Romanian title holders. Unirea’s manager states that a win against Glasgow would be a miracle.
Mihai Stoica, Unirea Urziceni’s general manager, has stated on Monday before heading for Glasgow for the game against Rangers, a game counting for round 3 of Group F Champions League games, that a win against the Scottish title holders would represent a new miracle after the title Unirea won last season.
‘There will be something special in Glasgow and the emotions are of a different intensity. It’s a different world and few make it here so we have to congratulate ourselves once again for managing to enter the elite of European football. We are playing against a team that has a very good morale. It’s a very good team when playing at home but it’s not of Seville’s caliber and we want to take advantage of our chance. A draw would be a positive result too because we are facing a team from a different category. We come from the fourth value bowl and we’re playing against heavy-weight and super heavy-weight opponents. Glasgow Rangers is not from the super heavy-weight category but it’s from the heavy-weight category. A tie would be a huge surprise and a victory would be a miracle,’ Stoica said.
Mihai Stoica hopes that Unirea’s players won’t be intimidated by the atmosphere within Ibrox Park. ‘It’s not the same to play three games on neutral grounds and three games away. We have a huge handicap compared to the other teams taking part in the most important inter-club competition because we’re not playing any game at home; however since we obtained a draw against VfB we are very confident when it comes to the game against Rangers. I hope we won’t be overwhelmed by the atmosphere within Ibrox Park,’ Stoica underlined.
Unirea Urziceni left on Monday for Glasgow in view of the game against Rangers, a game counting for round 3 of Group F Champions League games. Mihai Leu, a former boxing world champion, and Vasile Siman, Sportul Studentesc’s financier, are traveling with the team.
The game between Glasgow Ranger and Unirea Urziceni is scheduled on Tuesday at 9.45 PM within Ibrox Park stadium.
