Romania, R. of Moldova seal border traffic accord

Romania and the Republic of Moldova signed the accord on small border traffic yesterday in Chisinau, after both countries’ delegations ended negotiations on the document, a press release from the Foreign Ministry says. During the talks, Moldova accepted the opening of two new Romanian consulates in Cahul and Balti.

“Normalising and strengthening the relationship with the Republic of Moldova will be achieved through concrete actions. In this direction, we welcome the completion of the bilateral small border traffic accord, which was already signed,” acting Foreign Minister Catalin Predoiu said in the release.

He also congratulated the Foreign Ministry’s delegation and their Moldovan counterparts for their professional work. “We also welcome the fact that Moldovan authorities gave their approval to the opening of Romanian consulates in Cahul and Balti. This decision confirms Romania and Moldova’s engagement to act decisively so as to take clear measures for the citizens of both states,” Predoiu added.
