Start of second half of League I season delayed by national team’s schedule

The Romanian Football Federation’s Executive Committee decided on Tuesday that the second half of the League I season will start one week later than scheduled, namely on February 20, 2010, because the national football team will take part in a training tournament in Asia at the end of December, the FRF’s website informs. ‘Considering that our national team could take part in a training tournament from December 17 to December 24, a tournament that includes two friendly games in Asia or in an Arab country and that is meant to offer the players the possibility of conducting their training this winter, it was decided that the second half of the League I 2009-2010 season will start one week later than initially scheduled, namely on February 20, 2010. The complete timetable of the second half of the season, a timetable that includes six intermediary legs, will be established at a later date,’ the FRF communiqué reads. At the request of Razvan Lucescu, the head coach of the national team, the Executive Committee has identified four dates (two in April and two in May, 2010) from which two will be chosen in order for him to conduct two-day training sessions with the players susceptible of being selected for the national team’s main line-up. The final dates will be established later on.
