Alina Dumitru denies retirement rumors: ‘I will carry on until the 2012 Olympic Games’

Romania’s Judo Olympic champion Alina Dumitru stated on Tuesday in a press conference that she does not intend to put an end to her career now, planning to carry on until the London Olympic Games in 2012.

‘I visited my brother in Canada and I talked with him about my career. I told him that I will carry on, but that will depend on my state of health. I will carry on until the 2012 Olympic Games provided I no longer have severe pain in my leg. I want that very much and if I want that then it means I’ll do it. I really want to win the world title, the only title that is absent from my record. It’s a good thing to stay focused on these titles because I haven’t grown tired of judo yet,’ Alina Dumitru stated.

The athlete is still recovering from an injury she suffered during the semifinals of the World Judo Championship that took place in August in Rotterdam.
