Mutu recovers while waiting for decision in Chelsea litigation

Paolo Manetti, AC Fiorentina’s doctor, has stated that striker Adrian Mutu’s post-surgery recovery is going very well, with his right knee being in perfect condition, the fiorentinanews.com website informs, being quoted by Mediafax. ‘We are very optimistic in what concerns Mutu. His right knee is perfect. At this moment he is working on recovering his muscle mass. Ten days after surgery we are very optimistic,’ Manetti stated. Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu’s right knee was operated on November 6 in a clinic in Florence.

The surgery lasted for approximately one hour, with Mutu set to be benched for approximately one month. Meanwhile, former manager Ioan Becali stated for Radio Toscana that striker Adrian Mutu is feeling very good at Florence and that he is awaiting a decision concerning the damages that Chelsea asked for. ‘We are working on this case and we are hoping for a definitive decision earlier next year,’ Becali stated. He added that Mutu was not summoned for Romania’s game against Poland but that he does not know what might happen during the national team’s future games.

‘He will have to play and score for Fiorentina. This is the most important thing,’ Becali said. In what concerns a possible transfer, everything depends on the offers. ‘Adrian is feeling very good in Florence, but we will see what’s best for him and for the club. Mutu will turn 31 in January and we will see what offers there will be for him. His age and the offers can lead to various changes.’ Becali added that he hopes Mutu will play for Fiorentina in its Champions League game against Olympique Lyon.
