Sapunaru sanctioned by FRF

The Romanian footballer Cristian Sapunaru was sanctioned, being not called at the next two matches of Romania’s national team and being fined EUR 1,000 for his behaviour on Henri Coanda airport after the return of the national team from Poland. “On each public appearance, the coach of our national team, Razvan Lucescu, reiterated the necessity for the representatives of the national team to be responsible on the field and outside it” reads a press release of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF). According to the central media, Cristian Sapunaru, fullback of FC Porto, drank alcoholic beverages on the aircraft which brought the Romanian team back from Poland, after the friendly game won by the score of 1-0, in front of the Polish national team. Sapunaru insulted one of the representatives of the media present on the airport, and also the deputy coaches of the national team of Romania, Stefan Iovan and Marian Ionita.
