Over 40 pc of companies involved in commerce

Over 40 per cent of the total number of active companies was primarily involved in commerce last year, holding 40.5 per cent of the turnover, namely RON 387.645 bln, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs.


The total number of companies active at the end of last year stood at 534,525, with a turnover of RON 957.965 bln and a total number of employees of 4.418 million. The highest share was registered by companies active in commerce (214,138 or 40.1 per cent), followed by companies active in the services sector (199,738 or 37.3 per cent), in the industrial sector (61,260 or 11.5 per cent) and in the constructions sector (59,389 or 11.1 per cent).


In what concerns the turnover, the highest share was registered by companies primarily active in commerce (40.5 per cent), with constructions companies holding only 9.7 per cent (RON 93.21 bln).


When it comes to the number of employees, the companies active in the industrial sector held the highest share in what concerns the average number of employees (37.2 per cent), followed by companies active in the services sector (27.2 per cent). The average size of a company in the industrial sector was of approximately 27 employees, while the size of a company in the commerce sector was of approximately 5 employees.
