Water polo: Romania defeats world’s runner-up Spain

Romania’s national water polo team defeated Spain, the world’s runner-up, on Tuesday in Oradea, score 9-7 (2-1, 3-1, 2-1, 2-4). The game counted for the first round of European Group 3 in the World League. The national team, coached by Hungarian Istvan Kovacs, won the game thanks to the goals scored by Iosep (3 goals), C. Radu (2), Negrean and Diaconu (2 each). Spain’s goals were scored by Valles, Minguell, Perrone (2 each), Molina (2) and Xavi Garcia. Romania will next play at home against Serbia, the world champion, on December 8.

Ramses Juravle passed away

Former water polo international Ramses Juravle has passed away early Tuesday morning in Zaragoza (Spain) after a painful struggle against brain cancer. Juravle would have turned 33 on Thursday. Juravle was born in Cuba, his father being Cuban and his mother Romanian. He played for Dinamo and Zaragoza and scored 185 goals for Romania’s national team. A moment of silence was observed in the memory of Juravle before the game that Romania played against Spain on Tuesday evening.
