Diana Krall in Palace Hall performance

For the first time in Romania, Diana Krall brings her Quiet Nights Tour to Bucharest on Sunday from 8 PM. Canadian jazz singer and pianist Diana Krall is known around the world for her golden voice, which she wraps around traditional pop standards and presents as a gift to her fans. Krall got her musical education when she was growing up in Nanaimo, British Columbia, from the classical piano lessons she began at age four and in her high school jazz band, but mostly from her father, a stride piano player with an extensive record collection. By 1990, she was based in New York, performing with a trio and singing.

After releasing her first album on Justin Time Records, Krall was signed to GRP for her second, Only Trust Your Heart. Her latest album “Quiet Nights” is the one giving the name of the artist’s 2009 tour, which she brings to Bucharest as well. From Krall’s refreshing version of “Where or When,” to an utterly soul–stilling rendition of “You’re My Thrill,“ the ten songs on Quiet Nights are disarming in their intimacy.

Concert organizers require the public access done as of 7 PM, no audio-video equipment being allowed. If you still haven’t got your ticket, you can buy it online on myticket.ro or on Diverta bookstores, for 220 to 500 RON.
