Elena Udrea has access to Romanian state’s information, report says

Elena Udrea showed on Tuesday evening, on B1TV, a document which contained the list of the phone calls of prosecutor Angela Ciurea, ‘Cotidianul’ reads, i.e. exactly the prosecutor who was investigating a corruption case in which the name of Elena Udrea appeared.

Ciurea had disclosed, only an evening before, that the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) first deputy director, Brigade General Florian Coldea, was very interested in the advance of the inquiry in the controversial file mentioned herein above, although he did not have that right.

Udrea is member of the electoral team of the candidate to presidential elections Traian Basescu, backed by PDL. The same Udrea has been the chief of the Presidential Chancellery from Cotroceni Palace and holds the office of PDL Minister of Tourism. In time, Udrea disclosed also the content of other documents which were confidential, the publication reports.

Florian Coldea was presented by Traian Basescu as a young hope of the so-called new generation of intelligence officers, without any connection with Securitate and its criminal practices. Thus, it arises from the B1TV programme that Udrea “proves” to the public opinion who is the former prosecutor Ciurea through an inspection note drafted by the inspection for prosecutors of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM). During the talk-show, Udrea blurted out the name of one of them: Radulescu. One of the variants mentioned by ‘Cotidianul’ is that someone from CSM gave Udrea this document, and then Udrea went to “Nasul” talk-show with all the information. The interim president of the High Court of Appeals and Justice (ICCJ), Judge Lidia Barbulescu, also declared yesterday for Agerpres that no one has requested, for study or copy purposes, a document from the disciplinary file of prosecutor Ciurea. Barbulescu stressed that further to verifications it was seen that nobody has ever requested ICCJ to make copies after Ciurea file or to come and review in court the documents pending with the Supreme Court as a result of the recourse formulated by the prosecutor against CSM decision to exclude her from magistracy.
