Romania in Eurovision Junior contest

The contest Eurovision Junior 2009 where Romania competes with the piece “The power is in your hand” will be aired live on Saturday, from 9 PM., on TVR 1 and TVR International.

This year, Romania is represented in the Eurovision Junior by Ioana Bianca Anuta, aged 15, from Slatina. She will sing “The power is in your hand,” accompanied by a dancers’ mini-group in Kiev’s Sports Palace.

Romania enters contest from the fourth position, after Sweden, Russia and Armenia, being followed by Serbia, Georgia, The Netherlands, Cyprus, Malta, Ukraine, Belgium, Belarus and Macedonia. The show, running for 120 minutes, promises to be grandiose, entertainers being the Ukrainian artist Ani Lorak and Timur Miroshnichenko, a very popular TV anchor from the host country. The winning song will be chosen based on the votes received from the TV viewers and the specialized juries from each country, the weight being as follows: 50 per cent tele-voting, 50 per cent jury. The viewers cannot vote for their own country’s competitors. Unlike the Eurovision contest for adults, EBU regulations stipulate that the country where the edition of the next year will be established before the Eurovision Junior contest, protecting in this way the young competitors against the possible pressures to win.
