Timis Public Finance head arrested for bribe taking

The coordinating director of the Timis Public Finance General Department, Ionel Olari, was placed under preventive arrest on a Bucharest Tribunal warrant, as he failed to fulfill his work duties regarding verification of some companies in exchange for over RON 50,000. Anti-corruption prosecutors established that during 2006 – November 2007, Olari, in his capacity as Chief Commissary with the Timis Office of the Financial Squad, repeatedly received from Ciprian Nistor benefits equal to roughly RON 52,815 (the equivalent of a trip abroad) in order not to fulfill his work duties. In exchange for those benefits, Olari was not to check on the activity at three companies – SC Radisson Invest SRL, SC Radisson Investment Group SRL and SC Radisson Building SRL – and apply sanctions. In the same dossier, Nistor – a partner in the companies Radisson Invest and Radisson Investment Group – and Andreas Nadasdy – a partner and manager with the said companies, who was preventively arrested on October 7, are charged with convention fraud and uttering, as, having claimed to be real estate developers, they deceived more than 100 people, from whom they took about EUR 2 M toward the building of some apartments in Timisoara.
