League 1 – no surprises in leg 15

CFR Cluj – Universitatea Craiova, 2-0

CFR Cluj managed to win its home-side game against Universitatea Craiova at the end of a dramatic match that had plenty of incidents. In the 68th minute Craiova’s Mitchell pushed Deac outside the pitch. CFR Cluj’s player tried to hit back at the Australian, the latter reacting by grabbing Deac’s neck. The incident was stopped by referee Ovidiu Hategan who showed both of them the yellow card. Craiova head coach Eugen Neagoe criticized Ovidiu Hategan’s refereeing: ‘I wasn’t afraid of CFR; in the first half they did not have a singe goal scoring opportunity. From what I understood Dubarbier played the ball with his hand at the first goal, moreover the free kick ruled against us before that was a mistake. I don’t know why these mistakes always show up in the games against CFR. The game could have ended with a goalless draw because they had no goal scoring opportunity before they scored their first goal,’ Neagoe said. The head coach of Universitatea Craiova pointed out that he is not worried about being sacked after this result.

Italy’s Mandorlini, the new head coach of CFR Cluj, expressed his pleasure with the game and opined that the criticism launched against the refereeing represents ‘finding excuses’: ‘I am very content with the game, we deservedly won. We were well positioned in the field and the players reacted positively to my indications. I cannot compare this game to the one against Vaslui because Universitatea Craiova is not FC Vaslui. The reactions against the refereeing represent only finding excuses. They should not forget that they had only two shots on goal, while we missed significant goal scoring opportunities. The head coach of Craiova should better scrutinize his team’s game. Craiova caused more problems for us in the Cup than they did today,’ Mandorlini stated.

Dinamo Bucharest – Unirea Alba Iulia, 2-0

Dinamo Bucharest defeated Alba Iulia in a game that had only 1,000 fans in the stands. Claudiu Niculescu (3rd minute) and Marius Niculae (84th minute) scored the game’s only goals. ‘The first half’s final 30 minutes were less spectacular. I was not pleased with that game but in the second half we dominated the game from one end to the other and I think our victory was well deserved. Of course we are bothered that the fans no longer come to the stadium and I think that happens because Dinamo no longer has the results and the game that it once had. Overall this is an absolutely deserved win,’ Cornel Talnar, the head coach of Dinamo, stated after the game.

Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt – International Curtea de Arges, 2-2

Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt registered a draw in its home-side game against International Curtea de Arges. Ceahlaul’s August Constantin was sent off for hitting an opponent shortly after International opened the score. Ferariu and Cebotaru scored for Ceahlaul (17th and 80th minutes), while Catalin Lazar and Voiculet scored for International (2nd and 89th minutes).

Last night Pandurii Tg Jiu draw 1-1 with Rapid. Gaz Metan Medias-FC Timisoara and Steaua-Vaslui took place after the closing of our edition.
