The Bucharest National Opera (ONB) has prepared for Friday and Saturday a magical moment for all opera lovers irrespective of age – the premiere of ‘Hansel and Gretel’ by Engelbert Humperdinck, one of the most beloved children musical pieces, the general manager of the institution, Catalin Ionescu Arbore, told a press conference, Agerpres informs. ‘Hansel and Gretel’ will be produced as a fairy tale. It is time we went back to what magic means, to what a true performance means’, the general manager of ONB said. Beginning with the 1893 Weimar premiere conducted by Richard Strauss, the opera has enjoyed an outstanding success around the world, being appreciated in the greatest opera theatres by both children and adults. ONB is bringing the Romanian audience the enchanting characters created by the Brothers Grimm, with the contribution of conductor Vlad Conta, director Anda Tabacaru-Hogea, scenographer Adriana Urmuzescu, choreographer Simona Somacescu, the acrobatic choreography being authored by Ama Butoiescu (from the Globus Circus of Bucharest).
