‘Lia Manoliu’ stadium to be finalized at the end of 2010

“Lia Manoliu” national stadium is finalized in a proportion of 65-70 per cent and, if weather allows, it can be finalized in December 2010. The mayor general of Bucharest, Sorin Oprescu, checked yesterday the stage of the works on the stadium site and requested the constructors to consider a bigger number of parking lots than established in the project. “I would like to meet after the holidays with the designers, and see what parking lots we can make on the West side, because two out of 10 Romanians come compulsory by car to the match,” Oprescu said, quoted by Agerpres.

Oprescu added that the municipality will support also the construction of a roof of the stadium, its cost being already estimated at EUR 12 M. The whole construction represents an investment of over RON 411 M, plus VAT, the funding of the execution being borne by Bucharest City Hall and the Government of Romania. In 2012, the stadium will host UEFA Cup final in Bucharest.
