Romanian serves life in prison for double homicide in Italy

A Romanian has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a couple in Verona in April 2008, the ‘Corriere de Veneto’ writes in its online edition. Claudiu Stoleru (21) killed Luigi Meche and his spouse Luciana Rambaldoa in their home in Lugagnano di Sona close to Verona. The Verona court of juries presided by judge Dario Bertezzolo did not show leniency to the Romanian worker that stabbed the two Italians to death. Several hours after committing the double homicide, Claudiu Stoleru, who was 20 years old back then, was arrested in the Civitavecchia harbour (close to Rome) while trying to board a ferry towards Sardinia. From there he was planning to cross over into Corsica (France). The young man confessed to killing Luigi Meche because the latter made sexual overtures to him. Stoleru however denied killing his victim’s wife.
