Sorin Oprescu to go to Portugal for medical check-up

Sorin Oprescu will leave on Thursday to Portugal for a new heart check-up, after that which was made in Paris, the general mayor of Bucharest being expected back to Romania on Saturday. “I shall leave on Thursday to Portugal. I need a medical check-up for my problems,” the general mayor said pointing to his heart. Sorin Oprescu is suffering for several years from a non-insulin-dependent diabetes, which means that he does not need insulin on a daily basis. But since the diabetes has affected also his heart, the mayor suffered a minimum invasive surgery in France, when he had a stent set up. For this reason, Oprescu has to go periodically to a check-up and have a very balanced diet.

The mayor will have a new heart check-up after that which was made in Paris. During the two days when he will be leaving the country, his attributions are to be assumed by deputy mayor Victor Iovici.
