Magistrate from Covasna arrested for bribe taking

The chief prosecutor of the Crime Section of the Prosecutor’s Office of Covasna Tribunal, Alexandru Kiss, taken in custody after he was caught in the action taking bribe in order to return some material evidence, was arrested preventively for 30 days, on Saturday night, subject to a warrant issued by Brasov Court of Appeal.

According to investigators, the prosecutor from Covasna was caught red-handed on the evening of Friday, while receiving bribe twice, in the amount of RON 2000 each time, from a witness investigated in a criminal file with which he was dealing in exchange for returning some material evidence. According to the Section for prosecutors of the Superior Council of Magistracy, Alexandru Kiss was appointed chief prosecutor of the Section on criminal pursuit of the Prosecutor’s Office of Covasna Tribunal in July 2006, for a period of three year. Upon the evaluation of his professional skills, from 2008, he was rated “very well” and did not receive any disciplinary sanction in the last three years. Last July, Alexandru Kiss was reinvested in the same office, also for a period of three years. Alexandru Kiss has a seniority of 24 years in magistracy.
