INS: Moderate and marked declines in certain economic activities next year

The activities from several domains, such as the processing industry, the retail trade, services and constructions will experience moderate or marked declines during December 2009 – February 2010, vs. September-November 2009, according to the managers of the commercial companies, quoted by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

According to the options expressed in December 2009, a moderate fall of the activity in the processing industry and the retail trade, a fall of the services and a marked fall in constructions loom in the period December 2009-February 2010 vs. the three previous months. INS data show that a serious fall of the activity will be registered in constructions, where there will be a volume of production of -53 per cent against the previous three months from the autumn 2009.

The managers also estimate a significant decline of the number of employees, both as a whole, and by groups of size of the companies.

Only in the case of the prices of the industrial products is predicted a trend of relative stability in the next three months, of 5 per cent. According to the managers from the retail trade sector a moderate fall of the economic activity in the respective period, of -10 per cent, is estimated.
